About the Recipe

Homemade buttery flaky pie crust is a classic recipe that yields a tender, flaky crust. It's made with simple ingredients like flour, butter, water, and salt.

Ingredients

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1 Tablespoon sugar

1 cup very cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

6 to 8 tablespoons ice water

Directions

Combine dry ingredients: Mix 1 ½ cups flour, salt, and sugar in a food processor. Pulse a few times.


Add butter: Cut butter into cubes and add to the flour mixture. Pulse until the dough starts to form.


Add remaining flour: Add the remaining 1 cup of flour and pulse a few more times.


Add water: Sprinkle ice water over the dough, starting with 4 tablespoons. Mix until the dough comes together.


Chill: Shape the dough into disks, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
